The problem
Diverse, culture-driven nonprofits are doing vital work — often without the visibility they deserve.
Organizations led by and serving underrepresented communities — including Black, Indigenous, immigrant, refugee, racialized, and women-led groups — are among the most essential in Alberta. Yet many remain hard to find, under-resourced, and disconnected from the partnerships and funding that could amplify their impact.
The NON exists to change that. By focusing specifically on nonprofits rooted in diverse cultural experiences and community-driven missions, we ensure these organizations are seen, supported, and connected — not lost in a database too broad to be useful.
Organizations serving underrepresented communities are often invisible to funders and partners
Culture-driven nonprofits lack a dedicated space to be discovered by the people they serve
Women-led and community-focused groups face barriers to partnership and collaboration
Emerging organizations in racialized communities need mentorship and governance support tailored to their reality
